Workforce Development

Backstage Careers

Los Angeles Urban League’s Backstage Careers works with TV and film studios, production companies, entertainment guilds and unions to provide clients with training, internship stipends, apprenticeships and job placement. Current partners include AEG, Grammy Museum, Times Up Entertainment, Chapeau FX,  Cedars Sinai, and Impression VFX.

Courses include:

VISUAL EFFECTS
Start a new career in visual effects with this 12 week course in partnership with Impression VFX.

VIDEO EDITING I
Learn the basics of video editing and what it takes to get a job as an in demand video editor.

VIDEO EDITING II
Build upon your skills and learn advanced video editing techniques to make your portfolio stand out.

MUSIC PRODUCTION
Learn the basics of music production with this 6 week course in partnership with the Grammy Museum.

Construction Career Academy

Construction Career Academy prepares candidates for union apprenticeships with the skills and knowledge necessary to pass a trade union entrance exam. Registration is now open!

Education

PROJECT READY

Project Ready works with high school students to provide the knowledge, tools and skills needed for post-secondary success. This program focuses on STEM, mentorship, leadership development, historical and cultural literacy, campus tours, national case competition, and career preparation while in partnership with the National Urban League. BIZ CAMP

Biz Camp is a free four-week entrepreneurship summer camp for boys and girls ages 13-17 where students learn how to turn their business ideas into reality through planning, analysis, and real world application of what they learn in the classroom

TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS

These workshops provide students with a hands on learning experience to explore what it takes to be a successful web developer. Students ages 14-19 will learn about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, UX Design, and Podcasting.

URBAN BRIDGE BUILDERS

Urban Bridge Builders Camp provides girls and boys, ages 13-17, a chance to explore the numerous dynamic, diverse and lucrative careers associated with their science, technology, engineering and math academic pursuits.

Entrepreneurship Center

Los Angeles Urban League’s Urban Center for Entrepreneurship provides minority and women-owned companies with best-in-class business intelligence, one-on-one strategies for success, and a network of advisors and mentors that complement your company’s management team.
